El novelista, articulista y poeta Miguel Torga —seudónimo de Adolfo Correia da Rocha—, es uno de los autores portugueses más importantes del siglo xx. Este centro cultural quiere ser una institución de referencia en el estudio y divulgación de su obra literaria; para ello, se ha propuesto un marco arquitectónico sereno, un edificio de una única planta integrado en el paisaje horizontal de viñas que caracteriza su entorno. El emplazamiento elegido, ubicado a poca distancia de la casa natal de Miguel Torga en la parroquia de São Martinho de Anta, perteneciente al Ayuntamiento de Sabrosa, comprendía dos áreas diferenciadas: una asfaltada, al norte, donde tiene lugar una feria quincenal, y otra en aparente abandono, al sur, adyacente a una viña.

La conferencia tendrá lugar mañana martes 9 de octubre, a las 12.30 h. en el Salón de Actos de la E.T.S.A.M.

En su 10º Aniversario, la CÁTEDRA BLANCA de Madrid inaugura su ciclo anual de conferencias con Eduardo Souto de Moura, premio Pritzker 2011.

Durante el acto inaugural del curso se hará entrega a los alumnos de los premios de la CÁTEDRA BLANCA: F. J. S. Oíza, para los ganadores del concurso "Música en Berlín" , y Alejandro de la Sota, para el mejor P.F.C. presentado en el curso 2011-2012.

Auditório B/Auditorium B

The diversity of programmatic activities predicted on the Plan to rehabilitate the Robinson Factory, together with the diversity of spatial characterization of the existing buildings, was crucial to the prior distribution of the different functions. One defined the installation of two auditoriums that should have different characteristics, be complementary, of shared uses, also associated to the Performing Arts Center to be created.

The building of the Hotel and Catering School defines a new street, a structural and vital element to the rehabilitation of the old area of the Robinson Factory.

Within the definitions of the General Plan, the location of the parking is essential. Its frank and direct relation with the street is enhanced by the clarity of the relation established with all the equipment in the area, so it is not necessary to build a new structure with its costs as this offers the advantages of a large and airy structure with good light and naturally ventilated. Given its proximity to the Tourism and Hotel School as well as other teaching units as the Conservatory of Music and Culture Associations, which provides a large young population, this structure allows the happening of concerts featuring DJs.

The Auditorium A is one of the buildings and programs integrated on the Master Plan to reconvert the 6ha belonging to old Robinson Cork Factory, into a cultural area, today, Robinson Foundation.

One understands that to preserve the historic memory through its heritage is to feed the identity signs of a city that does not want to see its role diminished on the countries outlook. 

The Auditorium A, one of the two only new constructions, was thought with a building system and image inspired on the various existent "metal machines" - authentic sculptures that point the whole factory complex. Like those, all infrastructure and pipelines are apparent and are part of the composition of the elevations.

The removal of the Robinson Cork Factory to the new Portalegre Industrial Complex will free up some 60,000 square metres of land in a major development area of the town, as also a significant built-up area, consisting, mainly, of warehouses and buildings housing technical facilities, beside the main building which defines its front. Included in a complex set of measures to reign in the dispersal of its outskirts, Portalegre’s Council has, together with the parties forming the Robinson Foundation, undertaken a programme for the regeneration of the old factory’s premises; in addition to recovering its historical ties to the town, this aims at re-defining the purposes to which the different buildings are implanted and recover its industrial heritage.

El solar se encuentra en la frontera de dos zonas cuya morfología es muy diferente a causa del crecimiento no controlado de la ciudad. Por un lado, el límite con el casco antiguo, un frente consolidado de alturas constantes - origen de la reserva de suelo de los años 60 – que funcionó como barrera para el crecimiento urbano posterior. Por otro lado, el límite con el barrio de Singuerlin, un crecimiento desordenado e irregular con una orografía muy marcada con yuxtaposiciones tipológicas. La conclusión de la autopista B-20 y la construcción del parque Europa, en los 90, unieron las dos zonas sin resolver el frente del barrio de Singuerlin.

La propuesta seleccionada solucionaba esta frontera en contrapartida a la propuesta previa. La estrategia urbana consiste en la creación de una nueva centralidad con la dotación de equipamientos a escala urbana como el hotel y los multicines, el programa se completa con 200 viviendas; para ello se siguieron tres conceptos básicos:
