'Casa JD' by argentinian practice BAK arquitectos (maria victoria besonias, guillermo de almeida, luciano kruk) is a two bedroom residence situated on a lush and sloped site in mar azul, buenos aires, argentina. an intersecting composition of two perpendicular rectangular volumes, the design generates a spacious communal area that is interspersedly defined by strips of transparency, directly linking the interior to the forest beyond.
Utilizing the strong topography of the land, the structure partially conceals its presence within a small clearing in the woods. as much of the forestry was preserved during the construction process, with a balcony platform wrapping around existing trees. the finish of the concrete facade results in a highly textual aesthetic that does not take away from the natural elements of the site. In contrast to the heaviness of the material, horizontally running bands of windows have been sliced out of the surface to maintain a level of lightness to the structure.
